Meditation for the Fourth Sunday of Lent
Joshua 5:9-12; Psalm 32; 2 Corinthians 5:16-20; Luke 15:1-3, 11b-32

So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; look, new things have come into being! (2 Corinthians 5: 17)
Have you ever heard the expression "It's a whole new ballgame!" That is a fairly good translation of what Paul said in his second letter to the Church in Corinth.
Because of Christ, the Messiah, everything has changed in some fundamental way.
This is clearly the message of Easter, but it must also be a central theme of Lent.
Through the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus, we have been made anew, not simply repaired or restored. We are at a moment of transformation, not of our own doing.
Lent shouldn't be viewed merely as a period for repentance and renewal in anticipation of this newness. It can and should be the time when we recognize this truth and start behaving as though it is indeed true!
There Is New Creating
Called to be new
Not simply renewed
Or repaired or restored
New creating
Unprecedented, newborn, novel
This the bar that was set
At the resurrection
Think of it
Just think of it for a moment
And be in awe
Think of it
Just think of it a moment
And be transformed
Think of it
Just think of it for a moment
In rapt humility
Think of it
Just think of it for a moment
At the next moment of
Decision, resolve, commitment
Let it spark imagination
Let it burn conscience
Let it fuel being
And become new
In an act of creating
