Isaiah 6:1-13; Psalm 138; 1 Corinthians 15:1-11; Luke 5:11-11
After reading these scriptures from this week's lectionary, think about the consequences of answering the Lord's call by having the courage to say, "send me!"
Send Me
When it is God that is asking,
By what right, what power, do I
Have the audacity to say
To claim for myself, to suggest
In response to “Whom shall I send?”
“Send me”
Not a prophet with a vision
Not a member of the holy
Seraphim (our better angels)
Nor even of the fisherfolk
The twelve who when he asked did say
“Send me”
The audacity to even
Speak, much less to offer up my
Worthiness, my capacities
Comes not from me but only from
The One who in the garden prayed
“Send me”
The very Word who at the start
And even now and even when
The world ceases to spin around
The sun, the Son it is who, as
His, I proclaim with all my strength
My heart, my mind, my life, my soul“Send me”
