As with yesterday, today's contribution is another set of verses from the gospel that should appear in some form in every prayer guide. They articulate one of the key reasons we all gather together in one spiritual fellowship in the first place. Without Jesus' sacrifice, there would be no Christianity.
Jesus is the reason we choose the light over the dark
John 14: 6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
Our prayer inspiration for today is:
Day 6 – April 13
Contributed by Susan & Ted Stokes
John 3: 16-21
For God so loved the world
that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him
shall not perish but have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world
to condemn the world,
but to save the world through him.
Whoever believes in him is not condemned,
but whoever does not believe
stands condemned already
because he has not believed in the name
of God's one and only Son.
This is the verdict:
Light has come into the world,
but men loved darkness instead of light
because their deeds were evil.
Everyone who does evil hates the light
and will not come into the light
for fear that his deeds will be exposed.
But whoever lives by the truth
comes into the light
so that it may be seen plainly
that what he has done
has been done through God.
Looking Forward
an excerpt from a prayer for The 73rd Annual National Day of Prayer (2024):
"It is time to stop hiding away our light . . . We are called to be a bright, shining light, exposing and dispelling the darkness! . . . Let us stand, pray, and watch as our prayers move the heart and hands of God, availing much! We must lift up the Word and light up the world!"
May God bless our prayer journey together.
