No prayer guide would be complete without Jesus' teaching on how to pray. The gospels record that the disciples asked Jesus to teach them. His response is what we all know as the Lord's Prayer. We have heard it. We have prayed it. In fact, we have heard it so much we probably think we know it.
Today's inspiration, contributed by our pastor, is that excerpt of the gospel that contains our Lord's prayer. You might be tempted to skip it, because you know it so well. Let your challenge today be to read this scripture and see something new. Maybe it is the line that tells us that our Father already knows what we need? Maybe it is something else. Maybe it is simply savoring each word and letting their full implication sink in.
Day 5 – April 12
Contributed by Pastor Russ Willis
Luke 11: 1
One day Jesus was praying in a certain place.
When he finished, one of his disciples said to him:
“Lord, teach us to pray,
just as John taught his disciples.”
Matthew 6: 8-13
Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
This, then is how you should pray:
Our Father in heaven
hallowed be your name
your kingdom come
your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven
Give us today our daily bread
Forgive us our debts
as we have forgiven our debtors
And lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from the evil one.

Looking Forward
As we look forward to our observance of the National Day of Prayer, here is an excerpt for that day:
Lord, Your way is perfect
You lead us on paths of righteousness for Your name's sake.
Your Word is a lamp to our feet, and a light to our path.
Your Word is Truth,
instructing and inspiring us ...
Fill us with Truth as we read, study, and live Your Word.
May God bless our prayer journey together.
